![]() You'd be hard pressed to name 1 Ubisoft game since 2010 that hasnt been delayed at least once, or isnt currently in development hell right now, if not outright cancelled.Ubisoft’s upcoming pirate game Skull and Bones doesn’t interest its playtesters, according to a recent report. Then again, Ubisoft has had a LOT of internal struggles in the past decade and pretty much EVERY single game theyve announced or released in the past decade has been hit with at least 1 delay, cancelled, or is still in development hell and we havent heard of it since. How much could it have possibly changed, and how much could it really have struggled when you already had the ground work laid out for you in a previous working IP. I get that it was built from the ground up, and went through a lot of developmental and direction changes since its conception, but damn. If thats not the issue, I dont know what is, because this game was literally supposed to be the boating part of AC 4 stripped out and made into its own game. That, or it takes so long to release that people eventually get tired of it because they consume everything there is and then have to wait 3-6 months, if that, before anything else is released for it. I can only reasonably imagine this has to do with them waiting until they have more concrete content to put out for a roadmap post release.īecause when an online, multiplayer centric game like this releases, one of the biggest factors that kills them is that there is almost little to no content post-launch. But I'm willing to bet that a literal Assassin's Creed Black Flag online would have sold substantially better than this dumpster fire will. Sure, there's plenty of people that didn't want an Assassin's Creed online pirate game, but that doesn't mean they wanted all of the off ship gameplay and exploration taken out, they just didn't want the Assassin's Creed story, with the Animus, modern day, and magical artifacts. ![]() Instead they removed all meaningful non ship based gameplay (you can walk around in hub areas, but that's it), you can't get into sword fights, boarding other ships is an animation with no gameplay, raiding outposts is an animation with no gameplay, and "exploring" consists of ship exploring the seas, not getting off the boat and actually exploring and land (I think one of the videos has showed you sending your crew to collect buried treasure, yet again, a canned animation). All they had to do was take the pirate related content of Black Flag, make a new map and progression system, add online multiplayer, then call it a day. They announced a pirate game based on Black Flag, but online multiplayer. Seriously, who is genuinely excited for this game? I've seen nothing positive in terms of discussion ever since the leaks about it being ship based only. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors. ![]() Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
